(Video) Leeds fans couldn’t believe what Peter Shilton said about Marcelo Bielsa live on Sky Sports

Former Derby County player Peter Shilton has been shelled on social media after his apparent lack of knowledge about Marcelo Bielsa’s nationality.

A video posted by @CREATIVElead on Twitter showed Shilton unaware of Marcelo Bielsa’s nationality when he was live on Sky Sports, confusing the Argentine to be an Italian.

While the error could have been harmlessly sidelined, Shilton made a further comment which caused a furore on social media.

When he was informed that Bielsa was not an Italian but an Argentine, Shilton replied “Oh is he? Makes it even worse then, doesn’t it?”

The eight-second video has crossed 147K views on Twitter. While it is common knowledge that the English and the Argentinians are not friends when it comes to national team football, many Leeds United felt that Shilton’s additional comment was unnecessary and racist at its core.

Shilton’s controversial comment came after Leeds United coach Marcelo Bielsa’s “Spygate” scandal came into limelight.
