Kalvin Phillips headed Leeds back to the top of the Championship in the 11th minute of stoppage time to salvage a late draw against Middlesbrough yesterday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men travelled to the Riverside Stadium knowing fully well that a point was all that they needed to return to the top spot but certainly left it late to equalize after Lewis Wing gave the home side the lead in the 47th minute.
Late comebacks are always thrilling and the traveling fans could barely contain their joy after Phillips headed in from close range with barely a minute of stoppage time left.
But getting on level terms wasn’t seemingly enough for Patrick Bamford, who wasted no time in celebrating the equalizer and looked more keen to snatch a winner before the full time whistle.
The striker was spotted picking up the ball from the net almost immediately after the goal went in and Leeds supporters would have surely loved to see the 25-year-old’s drive to get all points in the bag.
