Moments before the brawl in the Chelsea camp last night was covered by the cameras, Maurizio Sarri appears to be showing ‘the finger’ to Ross Barkley during an open training session. The duo seem to be sharing a light moment in the picture during a practice session.
Things got heated in the live training session
Chelsea Manager Sarri left the pitch furiously during their last training session in Baku before the big clash against London rivals Arsenal on Wednesday.
The Italian manager was seen throwing his Chelsea cap, kicking it into the air and retrieving it again just to throw it back onto the ground.
The heated incident took place shortly after an argument between David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain in a routine training session.
The Brazilian defender left a flailing elbow on Higuain’s face while shielding the ball against the Argentine. It appeared that the Chelsea number 9 went too hard while tackling Luiz and this infuriated the defender.
Captain Azpilicueta’s intervention calmed things down between the international rivals but failed to keep the manager’s fury under control. Even the members of the coaching staff failed to keep Sarri’s temper down as he headed straight into the tunnel after the incident.
Limited options in the midfield against Arsenal
The manager already had other concerns with limited options in the midfield after the likes of Kante, Loftus-Cheek and Odoi were all ruled out of the finale due to injuries. The manager has confirmed in his latest interview that N’golo Kante’s availability still remains a 50-50 scenario. This leaves Sarri with only Jorginho, kovacic and Barkley as the only options in a three-man midfield.
Despite having a wobbly season the manager claims that this season has been good and winning the Europa League would make it “wonderful”. The Italian manager finished third in the league securing a spot in the Champions League next season.
He also took the Blues into the League Cup final against City which they lost in penalties and are determined to win this finale in Baku.
