Arsenal are reportedly closing in on signing Celtic’s Kieran Tierney according to The Sunday Post.
Arsenal look to be winning the fight to sign Kieran Tierney. The Gunners have been locked in a battle with Italian giants, Napoli, for the Celtic left-back, and have had two bids for the player turned down.
But now they’re set to make a third attempt – a down payment of £20m, plus £5m of add-ons – to match Celtic’s valuation of the 22-year-old.
The North Londoners are in daily talks with the player and they believe that he wants to join them.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon had confirmed a few days ago that Arsenal’s £15 million bid for full-back Kieran Tierney is well short of the club’s valuation of the player, and they will have to offer much more to land him.
He’s on a long-term contract, he’s an asset and we don’t want to sell him.
said the Celtic manager.
Despite this the Gunners remained optimistic and according to Sunday Post, a third bid has been made and it matches the valuation of Celtic.
Given the pace and energy he brings into the game, Gunners boss Unai Emery sees Tierney as a great option to play on the left wing.
The Scotsman is a solid defender who likes to go forward with his dribbling ability, and Arsenal would hope that he makes a similar impact in the Premier League like his fellow countryman Andrew Robertson did at Liverpool.
Regarded as one of Scotland’s top talents, Tierney has been the regular left-back for Celtic and made his international debut back in 2016.
