Not Pogba – Midfield powerhouse returns to training for Man United before big clash v Chelsea

Manchester United

It is not exactly a secret that Manchester United are going through a bit of an injury crisis currently.

It’s a shame, to say the least, to see this once massive footballing institution reduced to being pegged back by a few injury concerns, but that’s just the status quo at the club now.

The team’s horrendous performance so far, by its own standards, has bogged the fans down, with some questioning United’s chance of qualifying for European football next season.

Now, it finally looks like it’s the Red Devils’ time to shine, with one of its very own, Scott McTominay, at last returning into the scheme of things. He’s joined the squad at a camp in Marbella, Spain, and is currently training hard to be fighting fit as soon as possible.

McTominay has certainly been one of the standout performers and a very rare bright spot in United’s otherwise blighted campaign this season.

Along with Pogba and a resurgent Fred in midfield, the Scot gave the fans something to cheer about, with crisp, energizing displays match after match in the first half of the season endearing him to the crowd and earning him the name of McSauce.

In a cruel twist of fate, however, both Pogba and McTominay were put out of action after the win over Newcastle the day after Christmas.

Nothing has gone right at Old Trafford ever since, with Matic and Fred being a mediocre pairing at best and with even Rashford having to be taken off after a mishap against Wolves three weeks later.

The fans now believe there is a return to form on the cards, with Pogba posting an update on Instagram claiming that he was progressing well with his recovery, and Bruno Fernandes arriving at the club as well.

Yet, it is old McTominator that Old Trafford faithful adore most, having gone through the youth ranks and now being a crucial player for the side. With the lad showing an incredible work ethic, as always, he’s worked his socks off to get fit again, and it shows.

His return is sure to be a massive shot in the arm for the team, considering that they have a crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea coming up, and fans have been abuzz with anticipation.

McTominay is most certainly a class act for United, and along with Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Tahith Chong, is being heavily tipped as the future of the club.

Here’s to hoping that McTominay comes back soon and does what he does best – being a thorn in opposition defences.
