Naby Keita arrived at Liverpool as a pacy, skillful, and sturdy midfielder from RB Leipzig in 2018. These qualities, along with his proven track record in the Bundesliga, had the Reds faithful exhilarated over the signing.
However, the player we saw in Germany never truly arrived in the Premier League. Injuries plagued Keita’s first season under Jurgen Klopp.
The first half of the current season brought no change in fortune for the 25-year-old as he missed a total of 16 games due to various injuries.
Despite showing flashes of brilliance in the games he did manage to feature, many quite frankly wrote off Keita’s story at Liverpool.
Notwithstanding any of that, the Guinean international has managed to put the time in lockdown to good use.
The former Leipzig star stole the show in Liverpool’s recent friendly against the Championship side, Blackburn Rovers.
Naby Keita’s skill set was on full display as the Reds thumped the Championship side to a 6-0 defeat and even got a goal to show for his efforts.
Only played 45 mins today, but Naby looked sharp. Can’t wait to see him back in action when the PL restarts… pic.twitter.com/Qhqx2Zyicl

The friendly was played in preparations for the Premier League restart, and Jurgen Klopp would be glad to have another top-fit player in his ranks as Liverpool aims to win the Premier League title.
