With a price tag of £53m, there is no doubt that Chelsea went big to purchase Timo Werner from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Once you take a look at the stellar season the German international has had in the Bundesliga, it’s not difficult to see why Chelsea went all in for the transfer.
The striker went toe to toe with Bayern’s prolific Pole Robert Lewandowski for Bundesliga top scorer’s cannon.
By the end of the season, the German had racked up a whopping 28 league goals and even provided eight assists, finishing 2nd in the top scorer race behind Lewandowski.
Overall, Werner managed to score 34 goals over the course of the season, leaving absolutely no hint of doubt in the minds of the Chelsea faithful of what the player would bring in to the table for Frank Lampard’s team.
Timo Werner himself indicated he is ready to take on the challenge at Chelsea.
In a live Instagram session with German stand-up comedian Chris Tall, Werner displayed his elite mentality when asked how he feels about his goal-scoring spree in the 19-20 season.
The German international replied with a stone-cold look on his face – “I’m the best.”
Top mentality.
