Premier League football is within touching distance for Leeds United. The club endured a 16-year exile from the first division, which finally seems to be coming to an end.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men racked up another crucial victory against Barnsley to put them 5 points ahead of second-placed West Brom. Like last week’s game against Swansea, the win against the Tykes wasn’t all pretty for Leeds.

The Whites struggled against a spirited Barnsley side, who would feel hard done by the game’s final result. In the end, a 28′ own goal from Barnsley’s Michael Sollbauer was enough to edge Leeds towards a win.

Despite there being no fans in the stadium, the nerves were evident in the atmosphere at Elland Road. However, a flood of emotions came pouring as the final whistle went off at the iconic stadium. The players knew they were now inches away from glory.

The victory puts the club just a solitary point away from ensuring promotion to the Premier League.

The importance of these three points cannot be understated as owner Andrea Radrizzani came down to the tunnel to congratulate every Leeds United player after the win –
