The battle for the Champions League spots went down to the final matchday as Chelsea saw off Wolves to grab the 4th spot in the Premier League. The Champions League plays a massive factor in Chelsea’s hunt for top players in the market.
Germany’s top talent Kai Havertz has been on Chelsea’s radar for a few weeks now. Despite keen interest from the Blues, several media outlets in Germany claimed that UCL is an essentiality in Kai Havertz’s plans for next season.
Now, with that assured, the rumours linking the 21-year-old with Chelsea have gone into overdrive. According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, the negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen are ‘getting hot’ after Chelsea’s win on the final matchday.
The Blues faithful are getting increasingly excited as well as impatient over the announcement of the possible signing. Under such circumstances, Leverkusen’s infamous Twitter admin decided to tease Chelsea fans with this cryptic tweet on their Spanish account.
The tweet translates to “Do you want to see Kai Havertz in blue?”
Although it wasn’t quite what the Blues fans were hoping for as the admin proceeded to reply with a picture of Havertz in Bayer Leverkusen’s 17/18 blue fourth kit.
Nonetheless, the fact that one of Die Werkself’s official accounts acknowledged the ongoing rumours might indicate that the deal is well on its way to realization.
