Celtic fans slam the new goalkeeper kit as Vasilis Barkas officially becomes a Bhoy

Adidas, Celtic

Greek International Vasilis Barkas has signed a four-year contract with Scottish Premiership club Celtic after a 5 million pound fee was agreed between the Bhoys and former employers AEK Athens.

Barkas, 26, made a reputation for himself at AEK Athens in the Super League Greece. He came under Celtic’s radar and the club wasted no time in buying their new number 1 for the next campaign which is due to start on 1st August.

The Greek goalie stands tall at 6 feet 5 inches and certainly has an advantage in this aspect of the game. The Bhoys are looking to win their 10th straight Scottish league title and it’d be really interesting to see how the new keeper adapts to the style of the league.

Shocking goalie kit

Celtic also officially unveiled the new goalkeeper kit for next season as Barkas was presented as a Bhoy for the first time donning the jersey.

And it’s an absolute shocker to say the least.

The round neck shirt has a lime coloured design. Manufacturer Adidas’ logo is of the same shade, followed by their traditional stripes on the shoulders. Again, a similar colour pattern is used for the sponsor Dafabet’s logo as well. The logo of the club is of the standard dark green colour.

Everything is perfect up to this point. What makes the kit so horrible is the purple based theme. The colour just doesn’t suit the shades used for the logos and that is the reason why some fans are so disappointed with the design.

The new goalie might not be pleased with that one, the fans definitely aren’t. Check out the kit and the reactions below –
