Despite all the efforts from people all over the globe who are supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, racism is still a grim reality in society. Sadly, the football world is no stranger to instances of racism as well.
Even the best efforts from various associations and club haven’t stopped hooligans from throwing racist remarks against players in the stadiums or the social media.
Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has found himself on the receiving end of such remarks in the past. The Colombian striker received discriminatory comments during his live session on Instagram. Consequently, the police also got involved in investigating the statements.
However, the offensive behaviour on the social media platform still seems to prevail as Morelos again received racial abuse on a live stream yesterday. A user commented ‘Morelos is a monkey’ while the player was holding a live session on Instagram.
It wasn’t the only remark directed against the Rangers striker as various other accounts made comments to abuse the player racially.
