RB Leipzig achieved a historic feat after defeating Atletico Madrid in the quarter final of the Champions League. The German underdogs secured a 2-1 win and proceeded to the UCL semi-final against PSG.
Dani Olmo headed Leipzig ahead in the 51st minute but Joao Felix equalised for Atletico after converting a penalty that he won when he was brought down in the box in the 71st minute of the game. In the 88th minute, a deflected shot from Tyler Adams won the game for Leipzig.
Leipzig’s second goal was special
Marcel Sabitzer pulled out a slick pass to set up Angeliño who fed the ball to Tyler Adams outside the box. Adams fired his shot low towards goal and it took a big deflection off Savic and made its way past Oblak.
Adams’ goal wouldn’t have been possible at that moment without Marcel Sabitzer who delivered a first touch pass to Angeliño with the outside of his foot.
Football Twitter was full of praise for the Austrian midfielder as fans recognised his efforts in the build up to the goal –

Diego Simeone had no complaints regarding Atletico’s exit from the Champions League and insisted that Leipzig totally deserved to win based on their surreal performance.
He was full of praise for the underdogs and claimed that they were full of determination, enthusiasm and freshness.
RB Leipzig became the first German team outside of Bayern Munich and Dortmund to reach the UCL semi-finals since Schalke in 2010/11.
