Rival fans spew literal hate as Harvey Elliott calls Community Shield a ‘McDonald’s trophy’ after Liverpool lose against Arsenal

Arsenal came out as victors against Liverpool to grab the 16th Community Shield trophy in their history.

Mikel Arteta’s men picked up from where they left off as the Gunners put in a solid performance against last season’s Premier League champions.

Aubameyang’s spectacular goal in the 12th minute was duly cancelled out Takumi Minamino as the game went to penalties.

However, a solitary miss from late Liverpool substitute Rhian Brewster meant that the Reds had to endure a disheartening loss in the season’s curtain raiser.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp decided to look on the positive aspects of the game. He stated that he’ll have his team learn from the defeat and work on their deficiencies in the two week preparation period before the commencement of the Premier League season.

Academy graduate Harvey Elliott , however, couldn’t take the defeat as sportingly as the German, opting to play the role of a sore loser.
The 17-year-old mocked the Community Shield trophy on an Instagram live session after Liverpool’s loss, stating, “I’m not worrying bro.. McDonald’s trophy anyway.”

While the Liverpool fans admired Elliot’s fandom for the club, the rival fans were not so pleased by his disrespectful behaviour.

Hate and criticism spread across Twitter against the player, condemning his arrogant comments while some even wished him to have a career ending injury –
