On a night where Jose Mourinho was left lamenting his players’ laziness, Carlo Ancelotti would have been much more pleased by his new signings.
Several marquee arrivals in the shape of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure were all put on a show for the Toffees at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Safe to say, each of them repaid the faith put in them by the manager as they put in a grinding performance to earn Everton the hard-earned victory against Spurs.
Although it was former Real Madrid and Bayern star James Rodriguez who grabbed most of the attention with his silky feet and constant attacking threat; this crunching tackle from new midfield acquisition Doucoure is as good as Calvert-Lewin’s winner just moments on in the game.
Lucas Moura tried to spur on a counter-attack for his team with a brilliant solo run and was almost able to put himself through on goal, only to be met by an outstanding tackle from an on-rushing Abdoulaye Doucoure.
