It has been an insane last one year for Alphonso Davies as he went from being an unknown teenager to one of the standout players to help Bayern Munich win the Champions League last season.
Converted to a makeshift left-back from a winger by manager Hansi Flick, his fortunes made a total turnaround as he is now one of the most sought after youngsters in the world.
Not only has his lightning quick runs and recoveries grabbed the spotlight for fans, he is also now a marketable quantity as he has been featured on Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2021 game alongside undisputed legends of the game such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And it will be an understatement to say that the 19-year-old is absolutely thrilled about it. Davies was speechless and awestruck as he looked back and forth at the cover of PES21 –

Before turning out for the European champions, Davies played for the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS a couple years ago. Hailing from Canada, a country not predominantly known for their interest in football, Davies has been influential in marketing the sport to almost every Canadian household, playing week in, week out for the treble winners: and hence his inclusion on the new season update cover seems very logical.
His meteoric rise in the 19/20 season has made him an indispensable player in Flick’s supremely dominating Bayern team, and his marketability is not going down anytime soon if he keeps his incredible form up and running.
