Hoffenheim carve open Bayern with a filthy team goal during 4-1 win

Andrej Kramaric, Bayern Munich, Hoffenheim

Andrej Kramaric finishes off stunning team goal v Bayern

What Hoffenheim did yesterday in the Bundesliga is something that no other side in Europe could achieve for the whole of 2020 – giving Bayern Munich a taste of defeat.

The Bavarians’ record-breaking 23-match winning streak saw them up against the likes of PSG, Barcelona, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund.

Yet, no team could stop Hansi Flick’s men from steamrolling their way through to winning the quadruple set of trophies in Europe. With scorelines as humbling as Barcelona’s 8-2 thrashing in Lisbon, there was a growing concern of whether the Bayern Munich machine can even be stopped or not.

However, as they say, streaks are made to come to an end. Oddly enough, it was one of Bayern’s former employee that led Hoffenheim to become the first side to beat Bayern in 2020. Former Bayern president’s nephew, Sebastian Hoeneß, led Bayern’s reserve team to glory last season by winning the 3. Bundesliga title.

A feat that did not go unnoticed as Hoffenheim pounced on the opportunity to offer him the position of head coach. In the win against Bayern, Sebastian Hoeneß’s men gave the record champions a taste of their own medicine by the relentless determination in pressing, while keeping it organised at the back.

The game plan worked perfectly as ‘Die Kraichgauer’ put four past Manuel Neuer. Andrej Kramaric was on fire as he tormented the Bayern defence with his runs inside the box.

His goal in the 77′ perfectly sums up what Hoffenheim set out to do- hit Bayern exactly where it hurts with some fast transition from the back.

It took mere five touches to carve open the Bayern Munich defence completely, with the 6th touch from Kramaric being a perfect finish to put the ball in the back of Manuel Neuer’s goal.
