Kevin de Bruyne pulls off an inch-perfect outside of the boot through ball against England

Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City

Kevin de Bruyne is undoubtedly the best playmaker in the Premier League at the moment, and arguably one of the best in the world at what he does best.

He has been consistently earning accolades for splitting opposition defences with his outstanding passing ability for both club and country, and his exceptional through ball against England in an UEFA Nations League encounter today bore testimony of the calibre of the brilliant Belgian.

De Bruyne nullified the entire English rear guard by threading an pinpoint pass with the outside of his foot to find teammate Yannick Carrasco.

The PFA Player of the Year for last season carved the England defence open with a deft touch of his magical right foot as the ball swerved into Carrasco’s path in the English penalty area, even though Carrasco couldn’t convert from close range with Jordan Pickford coming off his line.

The technical ability displayed in the pass was impeccable, as the Manchester City playmaker justified all the accolades that he has been gathering for his incredible performances for last season.

The match ended in a 2-1 victory for England, as goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount cancelled out Romelu Lukaku’s early strike from the spot.

The Manchester City midfielder has been the sole talisman for the top ranked national team in the world in the absence of injured captain Eden Hazard: but even his magnificent wizardry with the ball at his feet wasn’t nearly enough to salvage anything at all from the game.

Now in his fifth season with the Manchester outfit, De Bruyne has his eyes firmly yet on the most coveted, ultimate prize in club football: the UEFA Champions League.

Winning it would cap off De Bruyne’s brilliant tenure for the Citizens which includes winning the Premier League for a couple of times, and justify every single penny of the £55million City spent on him to secure his signature from VfL Wolfsburg.
