Times journo and generally regarded as a tier 1 source for all things Liverpool FC, Paul Joyce accused Carlo Ancelotti of ‘point-scoring’ to balance the Jordan Pickford debate.
The moment occurred towards the end of Carlo Ancelotti’s press conference ahead of Everton’s clash against Southampton on Sunday.
Liverpool contingent condems Everton players
Both Jurgen Klopp and Gini Wijnaldum had gone all in with their criticism of Everton players and especially Jordan Pickford in the presser ahead of their Champions League clash against Ajax.
The Liverpool contingent had condemned Everton players for the tackles which resulted in injuries for Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara.
The Dutch center-back is likely to miss the entirety of the season after suffering an ACL injury due to a rash challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Paul Joyce accuses Carlo of ‘point-scoring’
Time Journalist Paul Joyce made things slightly awkward for Carlo Ancelotti today after the Everton boss made an u-turn on his statement regarding James Rodriguez’s injury.
After previously ruling James Rodriguez out, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that he is very hopeful that his Colombian star will be available for the game on Sunday.
The Italian had earlier name-checked Virgil van Dijk in his statement while talking about the injury Rodriguez picked up in the Merseyside derby.
Witnessing such a blatant u-turn, Paul Joyce just couldn’t help himself from asking the Everton boss whether the namechecking of Virgil van Dijk yesterday was merely done in response to the attacks from Klopp and Gini before the game against Ajax.
