Marcus Rashford scored an incredible solo goal at the weekend but fans have spotted something better than the goal itself

Manchester United defeated Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Sunday to go joint-second with Leicester City in the Premier League points table. The Red Devils find themselves 10 points behind Man City with 13 games left to play this season.

United have recovered well from disappointing results on many occasions this season and they did exactly the same at the weekend, after a lacklustre draw away at West Brom the reds eased past Newcastle in a 3-1 victory at home.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 30th minute after an astonishing solo run and a powerful near-post finish. The local boy, at such a young age, is already an icon in his own rights with his exemplary work on and off the field.

The 24-year-old has cemented his place in Ole Gunnar Solsksjaer’s team and has been amongst the goals this season, scoring 18 and setting up another 11 in all competitions.

Fans have spotted something during Rashford’s goal which might be a sight to remember for the ages. In a photo posted by a fan on Reddit, United young guns Amad Diallo, Mason Greenwood, and Shola Shoretire were seen watching as the winger scored a worldie on the sidelines. One fan said that it was “like a Jedi Master teaching the younglings”.

The three teenagers were warming up on the touchline when Harry Maguire played a forward pass to Rashford, who in no time went on to find the back of the net. As you could imagine, the young trio celebrated jubilantly after witnessing the goal from the touchline.

Investing in the youth has resulted in incredible success at Old Trafford in the past, right from the days of Busby Babes to the class of ’92.

Shola Shoretire

The current united first-team squad has 6 academy graduates. 17-year-old Shola Shoretire is the latest youngster to fulfil his dream at the ultimate theatre of dreams. Solskjaer handed a first-team debut to the English forward by bringing him on in the 88th minute along with veteran Juan Mata. Shoretire has been in the Manchester United academy since 2014 and a first-team debut at the age of 17 is a big step in his dream of becoming a stalwart at United. Shola Shoretire said that he idolizes Marcus Rashford and hopes to follow his career trajectory.

Amad Diallo

18-year-old Amad Diallo has only made one substitute appearance since joining Manchester United from Atalanta for €25 million – €40 million including bonuses. Diallo officially joined on 7 January 2021, on a five-year contract with the option of an extra year. The Ivorian has been scoring goals for the under 23s but he might have to wait a while to get an extended run in the first team.

Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood burst on to the scene last season and became an instant fan-favourite mainly because of the accuracy and power of his weak foot. After making it to the England squad for the Nations League, Greenwood along with teammate Phil Foden was discarded from the squad for breaking Covid regulations. Amidst all the controversy the striker’s performances have been below par compared to last season.
