Martin Odegaard leaves Twitter gobsmacked with a monster first goal for Arsenal

Arsenal, Europa League, Martin Odegaard, Olympiacos

Martin Odegaard came up with the goods for Arsenal in their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 fixture against Olympiacos. The North London outfit won the first leg 3-1 away from home in Greece, and it was the loanee from Real Madrid who opened the scoring on the night in truly extraordinary fashion when he slammed home an absolute stunner from nearly 25 yards out.

Odegaard scored his first goal for Arsenal since joining on half a season’s loan in the January transfer window, and the Norwegian midfielder could hardly hope to score a better goal to open his account for his new employers.

Odegaard was fed by Thomas Partey just outside the box in the 34th minute of the game, as he cut onto his left foot inside before unleashing a thunderbolt of a strike that the Olympiacos goalkeeper Sa flapped at, but could not keep out from going over the goal line.

Twitter was left utterly stunned at the quality of the incredible goal, as Arsenal fans on the social media platform thought they had finally got a taste of the talent who is rated so highly at one of the best clubs in the world in Real Madrid.

The Greek outfit equalized after the half time interval when Youssef El Arabi caught the Arsenal defence lacking to make the score 1-1. Arsenal eventually went ahead once again through Gabriel Magalhaes who got on the end of a Willian corner at the back post and added another on away territory when Mohamed Elneny unleashed another strike of ferocity which tipped the tie heavily in Arsenal’s favour when the two sides meet again at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg to be held next week.
