Nike slammed as new home kit fails to excite Liverpool fans

Liverpool, Nike

Liverpool’s leaked home kit for the upcoming 2021/2022 season has failed to excite their ardent following, much like their football in recent months.

Despite progressing into the Champions League quarter-finals on 4-0 aggregate against Leipzig in mid-week, Liverpool are now as far down as eighth on the points table and have hardly come up with any creativity in recent weeks – much like their leaked home kit for the 2021/22 season, which seemed to have frustrated fans just as much as their performances of late.

Nike’s second home kit for Liverpool since signing a lucrative multiple-year deal with the Premier League champions appears to be one that the designers did not particularly give much thought while creating.

Leaked: Liverpool home kit for 21/22 season

The home shirt features some of the blandest work that has ever been seen from the sportswear manufacturing giants, featuring diagonal sets of stripes on the traditional red colours of the English giants.

The multi-million dollar deal that Liverpool agreed with Nike over the past summer might have had paid dividends when it comes to revenue, but the Liverpool faithful have struggled to like the kits they have produced so far.

Indeed, the kit does look slightly less bad when photoshopped on Virgil van Dijk (source) –
