Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak stamped his authority in an all-action performance for Turkey in their World Cup Qualifier match against the Netherlands tonight. The hosts won 4-2 on the night as Lille striker Burak Yilmaz scored a hat-trick at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
A great team performance from Turkey but Liverpool fans were far more interested in the person manning their defence along with Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu at the back.
Ozan Kabak’s stocks keep rising up after being thrust into the frenzy that is this season’s Liverpool. The young defender continued on the same path as he delivered a monster display which included 11 clearances as he kept Memphis Depay and co. at bay for the most part.
The Liverpool centre-back also exhibited his dribbling and passing skills when he went on a Joel Matip-esque forward run and lobbed a perfectly-weighted pass towards his namesake Ozan Tufan in the 63rd minute.
The more he plays, the more it looks like Liverpool are going to use the option to buy Kabak from Schalke during the summer. For £18 million, it looks like a steal at the moment as the 20-year-old could be special under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp and playing week in and week out with someone like Virgil van Dijk.
A good warm-up before he goes back there again in May, what do we reckon Reds?
