Ever wondered how would it turn out if one of the best left-backs in the world played against amateurs, well wonder no more, because Alphonso Davies showed exactly the same when he turned up against Bermuda and it went exactly how you would have imagined.
The Bayern Munich superstar put on a show of skills as he ran Bermuda players ragged during Canada’s 5-1 win in the World Cup qualifiers today.
Bermuda are ranked 163rd in the official FIFA rankings and the difference in class showed as 79th-ranked Canada blew them away at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
Davies provided all three assists for hat-trick hero and Besiktas forward Cyle Larin as the Canadians, who were playing their first match in over a year, cruised through the game without facing any hurdles.
The 20-year-old, who was playing in an advanced position from where he usually plays, took a coronavirus-hit Bermuda team at will and sent a number of incisive passes that rocked the away side’s defence.

Analysis: @AlphonsoDavies for @CanadaSoccerEN vs Bermuda. Played as an advanced left winger & as expected stood out on a different level. Confident, tremendous close control, good crossing & we also need to start talking more about his right foot.

Besides being one of the best defenders in the world, the treble-winning Bayern Munich player has been making waves off the pitch as well as he recently became the first footballer – and first Canadian – to become an ambassador for the United Nations refugee charity UNHCR.
