Tottenham Hotspur’s partnership with Dulux got off to a rough start as the official Twitter account for the paints company trolled the club within half an hour of the announcement.
Spurs revealed on Thursday morning about a new sponsorship the club had achieved with paints giant Dulux as the north London outfit exhibited their first-ever Official Paint Supplier.
As part of the launch, the famous Dulux dog was given a tour of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but it was on social media where things took a wild turn.
In a move that might be part of a broader PR strategy but is completely unprofessional nonetheless, the admin for the Dulux Twitter account made fun of Spurs’ infamously empty trophy cabinet along with their centre-backs while conversating with fans online.
The tweets were swiftly deleted but not before concerned fans were able to take screenshots of the blasphemy being spewed by the Dulux account –
Rival fans are going to extract some major fun out of this but this is a shot in the face of the business development teams who would have worked day and night to bring in this sponsorship deal.
