CF Montreal striker Romell Quioto channelled his inner Yakubu as he missed an open goal from 3 yards out during the 1-2 defeat against FC Cincinnati in the MLS.
The former Leicester City, Everton and Blackburn Rovers forward gained notoriety for all the wrong reasons when he missed a tap-in during Nigeria’s group game against South Korea in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Quioto’s miss is probably not going to be as talked about as Yakubu’s but it was a calamitous effort by the Honduran striker nonetheless.
It would have been harder for Quioto to miss rather than score as a cross from the right flank found him free and in front of the goal. As rotten luck would have it, Quioto drove it wide to miss a golden opportunity to put his side ahead.
