Video: Cristiano Ronaldo suffers severe free-kick malfunction against Israel

Cristiano Ronaldo, Euro 2020

Cristiano Ronaldo hit a new low when it comes to his recent inability to convert free-kicks as the Juventus star struck an abysmal shot that kept spiralling out of control until it hit the stands during the friendly against Israel.

Portugal won the warmup game 4-0 and, although Ronaldo saved himself some blushes by scoring a goal a few minutes later, it’s hard to ignore the sheer disaster that was the attempted free-kick.

With the likes of Bruno Fernandes in the side, perhaps it’s time for the former Real Madrid player to pass on the mantle of responsibility to other more capable players in the squad.

It has been a long time since the 36-year-old has found success by smashing in a knuckleball free-kick but he continues to do so despite being more successful while trying to bend it into the corner.

There is a good chance that even if 10 goalposts were combined together, the ball wouldn’t still be anywhere close to the target. Check out the free-kick mishap from CR7 below –
