Andriy Yarmolenko scored the first real banger of Euro 2020 in the most entertaining match of the tournament so far as Ukraine put up a fight but were eventually defeated 3-2 by the Netherlands.
The West Ham player put his side back in the game when he belted in a sensational effort with a left-footed strike from 25 yards out. The goal also ended Ukraine’s 5-year drought in the competition.
Frank de Boer’s side were playing well and appeared to be in total control before the former Borussia Dortmund winger curled home an effort from long range to inject life into Europe’s Yellow and Blue nation.
A grandstand finish was on the cards at the Amsterdam Arena after Ukraine scored their second goal of the night 4 minutes later to make the scoreline 2-2.
As luck would have it, the Dutch went on the win the game when Denzel Dumfries guided an 85th-minute header inside Heorhiy Bushchan’s net.
