Scotland put a brave front but were eventually knocked out of the tournament by the sheer genius of 35-year-old Luka Modric.
The Real Madrid star stepped it up when it mattered as he put his side ahead with a jaw-dropping goal from 20 yards out and then assisted the third as Croatia progressed to the next round with a 3-1 win at Hampden Park.
The ability to generate such power, precision and curl from a first-time shot hit from the outside of his boot, there is so much to admire about this goal from Luka Modric.
Though, for the Scots, the signs were already there as Modric had sent the ball to the wing with an outside of the boot pass just moments before the goal.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player would go on to score one of the most iconic goals in Euro history in a moment that truly snuffed the life out of Steve Clarke’s side.
