Angel Di Maria snapped Argentina’s 28-year drought without a major title with a goal worthy of being associated with the feat.
The Albiceleste have been searching for a major tournament triumph since winning the Copa America back in 1993 and did just that after Di Maria capitalised on a defensive error from Renan Lodi.
The former Manchester United player completely outclassed Ederson with a calm and composed finish as Argentina won the 2021 Copa America with a win against Brazil at the Maracana.
The PSG forward latched on to Rodrigo De Paul’s laser-like cross in the first half and lobbed the City goalkeeper to score the only goal of the match.
Perhaps their most important goal in decades, and Lionel Messi was not involved for once, but the Argentina captain couldn’t care less as he would go on to win the first title with his country.
