Hannibal Mejbri was the star of the match as Manchester United U23s beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-2 at the Carrington training ground on Tuesday.
Neil Wood’s side lined up against the Owls for the last friendly of pre-season before the start of Manchester United’s Premier League 2 campaign on Monday.
The Tunisian had an eventful outing after coming on a second-half substitute as he pulled off two assists before scoring a stunning long-ranger to put the game to bed.
The 18-year-old is in an awkward position in his career with the Red Devils as he looks too good to play at youth level but also isn’t first team ready, at least physically.
Though, there wasn’t any awkwardness on display as he whizzed a shot past Sheffield Wednesday goalie. A strike very similar in manner to Paul Pogba’s brilliant goal against West Ham United last season.
Hannibal Mejbri’s wonderful strike from the U23s victory today 🎯
