It was a scene of pure mayhem at the Allianz Riviera last night as Nice fans invaded the pitch after Marseille players retaliated to being hit by water bottles and other objects.
The commotion started when Dimitri Payet was hurt by a missile from fans. The former West Ham star went down to the ground in agony before retorting by throwing the objects back towards the rowdy crowd.
Things escalated big time soon after as hordes of Nice supporters marched into the ground looking for violence, but at least one of them was made to feel sorry for his behaviour.
New footage of the incident shows how a Marseille coach knocked a Nice fan out cold with a clean blow.

The game was delayed and then eventually suspended as Marseille players decided not to come back out on the pitch as they had no guarantees of safety.
French football has been marred with such incidents lately as the game between Marseille and Montpellier a week ago had also descended into similar chaos towards its end.
