Jadon Sancho hung out to dry with cruel 007 meme by German news channel

Jadon Sancho, Manchester United

When signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in the summer, Manchester United had high expectations. The 21-year-old is a talented prospect but has not lived up to the hype in his first months at Old Trafford.

The former Man City youth player was an unused substitute as he saw his side given the runaround by Liverpool on the weekend.

When a player of the magnitude of Jadon Sancho is signed, there is a lot of pressure on him to perform. The higher the signing cost, the more disappointed the fans will be when he doesn’t produce.

So far, in seven appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League, Sancho has not scored or registered an assist.

He has been unable to replicate his form from last season when he scored eight goals and registered twelve assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

Jadon Sancho’s insipid run of 0 goals and 0 assists in his 7 games in the league since joining Manchester United has now been turned into a joke by Sky Germany.

The absolutely savage meme from the German news channel shows the English winger in a James Bond tuxedo as the caption at the top reads: “They call me 007. 0 goals. 0 assists. 7 games.”

There are multiple reasons why Sancho has struggled in front of goal or assisting United. He is still adapting to his new role in the team, he is playing with players who are not on the same wavelength as him, he might not be getting enough minutes with the ball, or it could be that he needs time to gel into his new surroundings.

But, this is a young player who has already shown his quality and proven himself in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

There is no doubt that Jadon Sancho will come good again. His talent is too high to be hidden for long and many times players go through spells where it just doesn’t click for them. It’s just a matter of time before he finds form again.
