Spurs Twitter loved Antonio Conte asking defenders to not take the easy route of launching it up

A ‘rollercoaster ride’ ride would be an understatement at describing Antonio Conte’s first outing as Tottenham Hotspur manager on an eventful European evening.

Five goals, three red cards, and an animated manager on the touchline provided the much-needed tonic as the Lilywhites ensured they took the spoils of victory on Thursday.

Although an anxious encounter, a refreshing change in approach delivered the indispensable result, as goals from Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, and an own-goal by Vitesse’s Jacob Rasmussen saw Spurs score three goals for only the fourth time this season.

While there remain visible holes in the team’s defensive structure, Conte seems to be the right man to fix the team’s impediments.

Known for his extravagant demeanour on the sidelines, video footage captured the Italian tactician directing orders at the defensive players as Spurs anxiously held on to their one-goal lead heading into stoppage time.

At a club desperate for a boisterous figure following Nuno Espirito Santo’s rather dampening stint, Conte delivered to their expectations, as fans took pleasure in witnessing the Italian bark orders throughout the ninety minutes.

As Spurs desperately held on to their lead, fans witnessed Conte ordering his team to keep possession of the ball as opposed to kicking it up the field in the dying minutes of the game.
