Liverpool were dealt their first defeat of the season on Sunday as an invigorating West Ham performance ensured the Irons jumped up to third place in the Premier League table.

A frustrating outing, to say the least, Jurgen Klopp’s men remained lethargic throughout the game as they struggled to break down a resolute West Ham side.

Infuriated by their team’s overall performance, Reds all over Twitter grew visibly annoyed after cameras caught Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain appearing to be “laughing and joking” alongside opposition player Declan Rice after the full-time whistle.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – granted a rare start in the absence of Naby Keita and Curtis Jones – failed to make the most out of the opportunity, while his post-match actions added to the exasperation felt by Liverpool supporters.

Appearing to be sharing a joke with Rice, the ex-Arsenal player was subject to scornful comments soon after fans witnessed the 28-year-old undismayed by their loss.

The midfielder’s actions certainly sparked displeasure, with one Twitter user commenting, “Can we just put Oxlade-Chamberlain on the West Ham bus after the game?”, while others echoed similar sentiments, making unflinching remarks such as “Really poor from Liverpool but Oxlade-Chamberlain laughing and joking at the full-time whistle with West Ham players after his performance makes you fall out of love with football.”

Having failed to perform to his potential after recovering from a season-long injury sustained in 2018, it remains to be seen if the Englishman retains the support of the fan base, as they grow visibly frustrated by his lack of impactful performances.

Below, are a few tweets reflecting the Liverpool fan base’s disappointment as they did not hold back in expressing their outrage at witnessing Oxlade-Chamberlain’s post-match reaction.
