Hibs defender Ryan Porteous’ Steven Gerrard impression was on point as he savagely insulted Rangers and their former manager after their 3-1 win at the Hampden Stadium.
Having recently parted ways with their manager Steven Gerrard who left for Aston Villa, the Gers were no match for Hibernian who eased past them in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on the back of a stupendous hat-trick from striker Martin Boyle.
Cock-a-hoop at emerging victorious, centre-back Porteous didn’t hold back from adding insult to injury for the Rangers with his frivolous post-match comments.
The 22-year-old had been called out by Gerrard for his tackle on Joe Aribo back in October and the Hibs defender hit back by mocking the Englishman after the win.
When asked about how the win felt, the Scotsman imitated Gerrard’s response by exclaiming “do we look happy? Don’t ask silly questions then.”
For those who missed out, this was a cheeky dig at their Gerrard who once grumbled “Do I look happy? Do I look settled? Don’t ask me silly questions then,” after being questioned about his future in the Scottish League.
The Liverpool legend would go on to leave the Ibrox side 21 days later after making that statement.
As brutal as he was off the field, Porteous’ performance on the pitch too made a mark, as he turned out to be quite an intimidating figure in the Hibs’ backline, expertly winning headers and stealing possession.
The defender wonderfully bounced back from his last outing against the Ibrox outfit, wherein he was sent off for an early bath by the ref.
