Dejan Lovren mocks France Football over Salah coming 7th in Ballon d’Or ranking

Former Red Dejan Lovren took a cheeky dig at France Football after Mo Salah’s sublime performance against Everton saw Liverpool romp their Merseyside rivals 4-1 on Matchday 14 of the Premier League.

Salah scored a brilliant brace on the night as the Reds comfortably sailed past an out-of-form Everton.

Outstanding goals from captain Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota also contributed immensely in overcoming the obstacle of a hostile Goodison crowd.

After the match, ex-Liverpool player Dejan Lovren took to social media to praise his friend and former teammate, all the while poking fun at France Football after Salah’s Ballon d’Or snub.

“Mo continues like that and next year France Football will move you to the 6th position. He deserves much more credit!”, tweeted Croatian International.

The duo shared great camaraderie during Lovren’s time at Liverpool. And like most supporters of the club, he was left bemused to find Salah outside of the top 3 Ballon d’Or ranking.

The Egyptian star stood at 7th place, one spot behind Cristiano Ronaldo, prompting many to question the legitimacy of the award. At most, fans believe that Salah merited a top-five finish, considering the outstanding season he had had for Liverpool, despite the team’s struggle.

However, when asked about the rankings in the post-match conference following the derby victory at Goodison, Salah refused to comment on it outright.

In fact, his reaction was such that fans believe it pretty much summed up the Ballon d’Or farce.

Asked by a broadcaster on his 7th place finish, Mo immediately responded with a laugh and then added: “No comment. I have no comment.”

Who knows? Perhaps the Liverpool star is also of the opinion that he should’ve ranked higher.
