Liverpool received a major boost to their title chase after talisman Roberto Firmino joined back the squad for training following a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian remained sidelined since early November after picking up an injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid.
And though deemed to be a serious injury at first, the Liverpool No. 9 has made a speedy recovery, returning to training at Kirkby, much to the delight of his teammates.
Sadio Mane seemed particularly stoked at finding his attacking partner back. As Firmino was walking out to begin the session, the winger could be seen just behind him, announcing: “Bobby’s back, Bobby’s back, Bobby’s back!” before the duo walked on the pitch, sharing a light moment together.
Not just Mane, even defender Virgil van Dijk was overcome with emotion at the sight of the Brazilian attacker back on the field.
The Dutchman, who himself had made a return following an awful knee injury last season, seemed to understand the significance of such a return.
Walking onto the pitch, Van Dijk pointed at Firmino for the cameraman’s consideration.
Then, addressing the shutterbugs around, the defender remarked: “Bobby, Naby, Joe – beautiful. What a sight!” before extending his arms around the Brazilian.

In Firmino’s absence, stand-in striker Diogo Jota made a massive impact as Liverpool won six of their seven fixtures in all competitions.
Nevertheless, his return is a major shot in the arm for the Merseyside Reds as Mohamed Salah and Mane are poised to remain unavailable due to international duties starting January.
And with an all-important clash against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa due tomorrow, Roberto Firmino’s addition is a cause for delight for fans and teammates alike.
