As more and more football clubs turn to social media to gather more supporters and fans, an extra emphasis is now being put on how these social media accounts are run.
PR teams are surely working behind the scenes making sure your favorite team remains relevant and trendy online.
Everyone’s favourite Russian team, at least self-proclaimed, Spartak Moscow recently secured their qualification into the final 16 of the Europa League topping Group C tied with Napoli.
Their Twitter account which self admittedly is essentially a meme page was understandably abuzz.
Renowned for their amusing memes, the Twitter account often chimes in with their own takes on the various happenings in the world of football.
From being an advocate for #JusticeForGunnersaurus or offering fans refuge following the European Super League fallout, they cover it all, and they were certainly in top form following the Gladiator’s progression into the next stage.
After the victory over Legia Warsaw last night, their Twitter handle unleashed a torrent of memes.
From celebrating Champions League trophies to beefing with Spartak Moscow in Europa League…

Some of them were reasonably jubilant reactions to their side winning the group akin to the raw emotions fans must be feeling.

Others included an apparent truce with Napoli due to both sides finishing equally on the points tally.

The best of the bunch, however, was this clip featuring a preview for the rest of the competition, at least from their perspective.
Originating from the popular battle royale game Fortnite, the clip features several characters from the Marvel comics.
In the edited version, each character is assigned a particular Last 16 side and at the end, blazing through space comes Spartak Moscow.
The character assigned to the Gladiators is Galactus, who according to Marvel lore is a powerful cosmic entity with the added ability to be able to consume planets.
Perhaps aimed to instil a bit of intimidation into their future opponents, the clip certainly fulfils its probable purpose of being hilarious.

While it remains to be seen whether the Russian side goes through to the next round with the ease that the clip suggests, the memes we see along the way will remain timeless classics.
