What Twitter is saying about Liverpool’s possible move for Luis Diaz

Liverpool, Luis Diaz

Liverpool’s title chase this season was dealt a further blow after star players Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita headed off for the African Cup of Nations, leaving behind Jurgen Klopp a very thin squad to make do with.

As such, Liverpool are intent on improving their squad depth, with reports emerging of a possible January signing in the form of Porto star Luis Diaz.

The Colombian international, worth a whopping €80 million, has been identified by Klopp as a possible makeshift replacement for their absent attackers this month. However, Liverpool are reportedly willing to offer up to €60 million for the 24-year old who allegedly has also Real Madrid and Manchester United in pursuit.

On the back of a promising display last summer at Copa America, Diaz has produced 14 goals and 5 assists for Porto this season across all competitions. Therefore, it comes as no surprise why Europe’s major sides are chasing his signature.

Reports of the Colombian’s imminent arrival at Anfield had fans already weighing their opinions on social media in abundance.

Many were understandably excited with the move in the offing, considering Diaz to be a player who is perfectly suited for Liverpool’s style of play.

However, not everyone was in agreement with such an observation.

Speaking of Porto’s Champions League match against Liverpool, one fan appeared rather adamant in suggesting his indifference, claiming he saw nothing exceptional about the Portuguese during the clash.

With another winger inbound, fans also believe Sadio Mane’s position at Liverpool is under threat, and perhaps rightly so, given his recent slump in form.

FIFA enthusiasts weren’t far behind in stating their opinions as well, with many left seemingly impressed by Diaz’s in-game base card which featured an overall rating of 80. Notable among the attributes was his 92 rated pace stat.

Although, a coterie of supporters were outright disbelieving in their approach to the news of a possible marquee signing at Liverpool. Perhaps fans of the club are well accustomed to having their hearts broken by news of transfer rumours that never seem to come about.
