Back In The Building: Returning Harvey Elliott gets rousing welcome from Virgil van Dijk

Harvey Elliott, Liverpool

The return of Harvey Elliot brings good news for all Reds fans, players included.

The highly-rated 18-year-old made his return to first-team training after 4 months on the sidelines, having incurred an ankle injury during a 3-0 win against Leeds back in September.

The bright youngster’s return was met with a warm welcome from his teammates, and manager alike.

A clip from the training session emerged showing Klopp giving his trademark bear hug to the midfielder.

Alongside his gaffer, James Milner conveyed his happiness on the youngster’s return via his Twitter.

He posted a picture with Elliot, with the caption ‘Buzzing to see this guy back out there with us #baller’.

Summing up the jovial vibes of the session is Virgil van Dijk.

A clip gaining popularity amongst Reds fans shows Big Virg welcoming Elliot back in the most unique manner possible.

The Dutch international can cut a stern figure at times, due to his stature and his no-nonsense attitude on the pitch.

Nonetheless, in training the 30-year-old is as good a teammate as one can ask for, this clip provides further evidence for that.

During his jog to join his teammates, Elliot received almost cheerleader-like encouragement from Van Dijk.

Donning a hoarse accent, the Dutch International can be heard saying – “Go on Harvey, back in the building”.

Naturally, fans online likened the vocal inflexion to Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster, who carries a similar cadence.
