In many ways, football fans cherish the arrival of the final stretch of a season as it is the time for the enticing knockout UCL ties and the title-deciding games in the top leagues. But along with that, it also becomes the time for transfer activity to take shape as both players and clubs begin to eye the approaching transfer window. This leads to a field day for media outlets as transfer news becomes the raging phenomenon at this time.

Sometimes the early rumour turns out to be true such as Norwegian striker Erling Haaland’s proposed move to Man City which was reported all the way back from the summer of 2021 has finally been confirmed by renowned journalist David Ornstein on Monday.

But these confirmation reports of a deal being agreed upon or collapsing do not always materialize before the transfer window and without it, fans begin being attentive to their own players’ contract situations.

Liverpool fans have been extremely alert to the situation of their talisman forward Mo Salah and his uncertain contract situation with the club. As soon as reports emerged about the Egyptian’s contract issues, he was linked with other European sides such as Barcelona and PSG.

Now, it looks like another Liverpool player has attracted transfer interest as the Senegal captain Sadio Mane has been linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich. This sudden change in the scene for the forward has been touted after Bayern CEO Hasan Salihamidžić and Mane’s agent Bjorn Bezemer were spotted together in Mallorca, Spain on Friday.

However, this has turned out to be just a niggling rumour after Bild journalist Christian Falk revealed on Twitter that Mane was not the topic of discussion during the meeting between Bezemer and Salihamidžić. Furthermore, as Bezemer is also the agent of Bayern forward Serge Gnabry (who himself is in difficult extension talks), the meeting would have been more likely to discuss his case than for Mane.

Back in March, Bezemer stated in a press conference, “We talk a lot with Liverpool but currently, we are not talking about a contract extension, we are waiting for the end of the season.” Thus, while the meeting with Bayern’s CEO may not have been for Mane this still leaves Liverpool fans in a state of uncertainty over their player’s future.
