The photo that proves Erik ten Hag is leaving Ajax with a huge legacy

Ajax, Erik ten Hag, Manchester United

Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Ajax has been legendary. The Dutch coach began his coaching career with Go Ahead Eagles, helping them gain promotion after nearly two decades. Afterwards, he would coach Bayern Munich’s youth team, before moving on to FC Utrecht. His success at Utrecht saw him land up in Ajax in 2017.

Thus began a journey which no fan will forget anytime soon. Not only did Ten Hag lead Ajax to many domestic trophies and league titles, but under him, Ajax also achieved some success in Europe.

In the 2018/19 season, his Ajax side reached the semi-final stage. This was the first time since 1997 that the club had gone so deep into the tournament.

During their run, they defeated Real Madrid and Juventus (the latter both away and home). They did so while playing exciting football, with many of the players securing big money transfers to bigger clubs next season.

If not for a last-minute Lucas Moura goal, Ten Hag would have faced Liverpool in the final. Nonetheless, his legacy is cemented in Ajax’s history, and this photo shows why.

In the photo, the dutch manager can be seen with all the trophies he has won in his five years at the club. Over five seasons he has won three league titles, two KNVB Cups, and one Johann Cruyff shield. Very few managers can boast of such a record.

Fans of his next club, Manchester United, are excited after seeing this picture. To say their club has had a disappointing season is an understatement.

We do not know how his career in the Premier League will pan out. From his time at Ajax, United fans are justified to be excited. Even if he doesn’t find success in England, his Ajax tenure cements him as one of the great managers of the last decade.
