The season of kit leaks continues, and ahead of their official reveal, we’ve received a first look at the away kit for age-old rivals and Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. Home variants for both teams have already had their official reveal, the away ones are expected to launch in the coming days.
Created by Sportswear brand Adidas, the away threads for the Champions of Europe put forward a vivid graphic paired with a rather pleasing shade. The primary colour on display is light purple with ‘Night Navy’ accents and logos.
The eye-catching detail comes in the form of a subtle geometric pattern, the graphic carries darker shades of purple and provides an aesthetically pleasing fade to the design. Navy-coloured sleeve cuffs, collar, and logos provide a perfect contrast, the club crest is also recoloured accordingly.
Fans were in awe of Adidas’ latest iteration, and the reception was mostly positive.
In stark contrast was the response to Barcelona’s away kit leak, with many fans expressing their displeasure.
As seen in this image, the kit goes all gold with ‘obsidian’ logos and a monochrome club crest.
Designed by Nike, the shirt wears its influence on its sleeve quite literally, as the meticulous graphics borrow heavily from the 1992 Olympic Games held in Barcelona.
The patterns, seen near the collar and on the sleeve, are reminiscent of those on Gold Medals which were awarded to athletes during the Games. Another Olympic reference can be seen on the sleeve cuffs, as they are 5 multicoloured hoops, evidently inspired by the logo.
The neat details weren’t enough to convince as many simply weren’t feeling the colour scheme. The officially released home kit received similar lukewarm reactions, and it seems like the away kit will follow suit.
