Talented Ajax forward Antony turned heads with his performances this season, making him a player on everyone’s radar. The tricky winger played an immense role in Ajax’s Eredivisie winning campaign, and his skill on the ball also went viral online on numerous occasions.
Needless to say, the 22-year-old is on his way to becoming a young superstar.
In a video with PlayStation and the UEFA Champions League, the Brazilian was asked to create a trio of talented young players based on the attributes of dribbling, attacking and defending. Labelled ‘Next Gen Icons’, one of his picks included a name that will certainly please Liverpool fans.
To rival the trio created by Brazilian Legend Cafu, Antony began with promising Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha, citing his striking abilities as the reason. For dribbling, he went with a popular pick, as he chose PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. He completed the set with a surprising choice for defence by picking Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He also added a few words of praise for the England International, “He is a player I like very much and for me one of the best in the world.”
The 23-year-old is largely viewed as an offensive fullback for his abilities on the ball, and his defensive side receives less attention. In fact, the most significant criticism placed against the Liverpool man is around his defensive abilities.
While he may not be the best, the fullback is certainly a formidable defender, an opinion held by many fans and evidently by Antony as well.
The Brazilian’s comments excited some Reds supporters, as they hoped that TAA could play agent and bring the talented forward to Anfield.
