Manchester United began the Erik ten Hag era in perfect fashion with a commanding 4-0 win over arch-rivals Liverpool in their first pre-season game of the season. The Red Devils started the match with a strong line-up full of regular first-teamers and steamrolled a youthful Liverpool side.
The likes of Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri all found the back of the net for the Red Devils. But one (disastrous) sight that was not caught by TV cameras took place in the stands.
Sitting in the pitch-side front row seats at the Rajamangala Stadium was one Manchester United fan wearing the new home kit for the 2022/23 season. While the jersey has normally been praised by fans for being an impressive throwback to the 90s, this particular kit was an abomination.
While the matchgoers beside him were all either wearing jerseys with their own surnames or player names, this particular supporter donned a rather controversial kit as the name at the back read – A. Becker 1.
Now, of course, it’s a cardinal sin to write the name of a rival player on your own team’s attire, but clearly, this particular supporter did not get the memo.
Some of the social media users argued that maybe his name had the same initials as the Liverpool player. One even indicated maybe his name might be ‘Abraham Becker’, but we highly doubt that. There are no issues in being a fan of a rival team’s player, but to wear that kit to such a heated encounter is truly stupid.
Fortunately for that fan, he wasn’t harassed by his fellow Red Devils as they enjoyed a really good outing for their side. United lifted the ‘Bangkok Century Cup’ after the entertaining display, sending their faithful home happy and satisfied after a highly entertaining friendly game.
