Cristiano Ronaldo added yet another impressive achievement to his arsenal of records on Sunday.
In Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Everton, the Portuguese forward was able to score his first goal of the new Premier League season.
It wasn’t any ordinary goal, though. It marked Ronaldo’s 700th club career goal, helping him extend his tally as the greatest goal-scorer of all time.
But it wasn’t all so bright for him on the day. Indeed, Cristiano only started the game from the bench – with Erik ten Hag opting to start Anthony Martial over him.
However, the French forward ended up picking up an injury after assisting Antony’s opening goal. Ronaldo was brought on around the half-hour mark and played like a man on a mission.
He scored from one of his trademark finishes past Jordan Pickford, getting past the defenders before powering a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Of course, this called for a celebration among the Portuguese fans. As supporters continue cherishing it, one of Ronaldo’s biggest fans around had an interesting point of view about his standing in the United team before the game got started.
In fact, seeing him get benched so much this season has even forced one of his biggest fans to accept that he isn’t a regular anymore.
IShowSpeed, who has gained fame in the last year or so for his over-the-top antics while playing FIFA and loud personality, took time to troll him as well.
Speed is also a huge fan of Ronaldo, despite not really being clear with all the rules of football. He literally scored an offside goal in a recent charity match and celebrated as if nothing happened, even pulling off his idol’s SIUUUUU celebration.
But even Speed seems to be sick of seeing his idol getting benched by Erik ten Hag for the major Manchester United matches through the early part of the new season.
Just as United’s game against Everton kicked off on Sunday, Speed tweeted: “My gf and i went to the park and were walking so she got tired and told me ‘let’s Ronaldo’ i understood immediately what she meant. So we sat down on the bench.”
This a clear joke which mocks Ronaldo’s situation at Old Trafford right now. More than anything else, Speed is frustrated at not being able to see the GOAT (according to him) start more games for his side.
He followed up the tweet with a reply: “Why doesn’t ronaldo start wtf 0-1 i can’t take it no more i’m jus abt to stream.”
Fortunately for Speed and all the Ronaldo fans, fate had it for him to be brought on against Everton. He scored minutes after replacing Martial on the pitch and gained a lot of momentum in doing so as well.
Speed, however, will hope to see the Portuguese forward keep on starting games for United – which he probably needs to do to catch up with Messi in goals scored this season.
