London was painted Red and White on Sunday. In the biggest game of the Premier League weekend, a struggling Chelsea hosted their high-flying arch-rivals Arsenal. After a gritty encounter, the Gunners came out on top.
Graham Potter’s side were just dominated and outdone by Mikel Arteta’s players in a Sunday early afternoon kick-off. The Blues were barely able to test Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and never looked to have the confidence to defeat the Gunners.
It took a goal from Gabriel Magalhaes – aided by some truly awful defending from the Chelsea defenders – to help pick up the winner for Arsenal.
The win helped Arsenal climb back to the top of the Premier League table – where they sit just one point behind reigning champions Manchester City.
That is why the win felt even sweeter for the Gunners and left their fans on cloud nine.
The away end packed with thousands of Arsenal supporters had an absolute blast at Stamford Bridge and absolutely embarrassed the Chelsea faithful by out-singing them all through the game.
But it appears that Arsenal fans weren’t only seated at their own away end in the stadium. A video that has been posted on social media, shows that a few sneaky little Arsenal supporters managed to get tickets to sit between the Chelsea fans in the regular stands.
It’s definitely a brave thing for one (or a couple) of fans to sit with a lot of their rivals’ supporters, as it can often lead to violent confrontations in derbies.
But, these Arsenal fans were smart enough to peacefully enjoy the win and not let those around them know their true allegiance.
But not every Chelsea fan saw the humour in it, and some were left disgusted over how an Arsenal fan got the ticket of a seat that should normally be taken up by one of their own in such a big game.
One fan took aim at Talksport host and popular journalist Laura Woods, who is a self-admitted supporter of Arsenal.
The Chelsea fan tweeted: “Laughable really taking home tickets from home fans always a good look aye @laura_woodsy bet that won’t be bought up on @talkSPORT. Also one team in London do me a favour it’s November when you win the league then say it no trophies in November.”
Instead of getting into an argument with the Chelsea fan or getting baited by his remarks, Woods had a rather brilliant way of shutting the fan down. She simply replied: “What I will bring up is how much you’re crying.”
Woods is known for having really witty humour and her answer delighted fellow Gooners, who lauded her for a brutal reply to the chattering Chelsea fan.
It almost seems like nobody at Arsenal or those even supporting the club can do any wrong so far this season – with the Gunners proving themselves as serious title challengers with another huge win at a tough stadium. Arteta, for sure, will not be backing down from his ‘teacher’ Pep Guardiola this time.
