After securing the sponsorship to produce kits from the Italian National Team, Adidas has gone on to sign one more footballing nation, only this time from a different continent, North America.
Jamaica will become only the second North American country to be currently sponsored by the German manufacturers, after Mexico.
The deal between Adidas and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) was actually announced back in August of last year, with JFF deciding to part ways with their then-sponsor Umbro.
However, the duo had to wait till the contract with Umbro expired, which it did with the close of 2022. JFF were quick to formalise the partnership on social media.
This partnership will see Adidas supply the national team with its latest kits and training gear, as well as sponsoring various events and initiatives related to football in Jamaica.
The Jamaica National Football team, also known as the “Reggae Boyz,” have a long history of success on the international stage. They have qualified for the FIFA World Cup on four occasions and have won numerous Caribbean Cup titles. The team is known for its strong and physical style of play, as well as its passionate and loyal fan base.
The deal is a significant one for both parties involved. For the sportswear manufacturers, it represents an opportunity to tap into the growing popularity of football in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean region.
The sport has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, with many young people in Jamaica and across the region taking up the game. This sponsorship deal is a way for Adidas to connect with these fans and build brand loyalty among them.
For the JFF, the sponsorship deal is a major coup. It is a sign that the national team is beginning to receive the recognition and support it deserves. The JFF has long struggled to find sponsors and secure funding for its programs, so this partnership with Adidas is a major boost for the organization.
It will allow the JFF to provide its players with the best possible equipment and support, as well as to invest in the development of the sport in Jamaica.
The kits will be worn by the Jamaican national team as well as by various youth and grassroots teams across the country. The sponsorship deal also includes support for coaching education and other initiatives aimed at improving the standard of football in Jamaica.
There have already been leaks about the potential threads that Adidas will be producing as part of the new deal.
The image of the 2023 anthem jacket is the first product which has surfaced online, with the jacket having the classic three stripes design on yellow and black.
Fans are quite excited at the prospect of a behemoth like Adidas sponsoring JFF. The popularity of the Jamaica-themed Arsenal pre-match top has only hyped them for any future releases from this latest collab.
The first official kits are expected to be launched soon and all eyes will be on Adidas. Jamaicans will be hoping that they do a tab better job than what they have allegedly done with Italy.
