Real Madrid added another trophy to their haul last night, as they lifted the FIFA Club World Cup for the 5th time in their history.
The European Champions faced off against Saudi-Arabian side Al-Hilal in the final in Morocco.
Given the many superstars in the Merengues 11, Madrid entered the game as heavy favourites.
They established their dominance early on and notched up a 2-goal lead within the first 20 minutes, courtesy of a quick-fire double by Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde.
Moussa Marega managed to grab one back in the 26th minute, but it was to no avail as Real ran away with the game during the second half.
The final score-line ended up being 5-3 to the Merengues, and the side celebrated yet another piece of major silverware.
Los Blancos had numerous star performers on the night, but their standout player throughout the game was undoubtedly Vinicius Jr.
The Brazilian put on quite a show against Al-Hilal as he completed 4 dribbles and even delivered a delicious Trivela assist for Karim Benzema to tap home.
Aside from earning praise for his performance, fans online also lauded him for his excellent gestures towards a Flamengo fan in the stadium.
Copa Libertadores holders Flamengo had also qualified for the tournament, but sadly, they lost out to Al-Hilal in the semi-finals.
The Club World Cup holds immense value for South American clubs, with fans even booking tickets for the final months in advance.
Given this, it is possible that the Flamengo fan in attendance was yet another optimistic supporter who was confident in his team’s ability to make it to the final.
Watching Real Madrid lift the title wouldn’t have granted his much solace, but his interaction with Vini likely made his evening.
A former Flamengo player himself, the Brazilian noticed the sign the fan brought along with him, one that read, ‘Baila Vini, give me your shirt please.’
He took note of the fan’s request and handed him his match-worn shirt after the game, leading to plenty of cheers from the crowd.
It was an undoubtedly classy gesture from Vini, and it probably made the fan’s trip worth it.
