Everton might be having a tough time navigating their way out of a Premier League relegation battle, but at least their fans can be excited about their new stadium that is poised to replace Goodison Park.
Indeed, the new Everton Stadium that is being built on the Bramley-Moore Dock at Vauxhall, Liverpool is scheduled to be ready for use by the 2024-25 season.
This was a ploy to help Everton regain their reputation of being one of the most respected clubs in England, having been formed in 1878. They’ve been playing at Goodison Park since 1892, but are ready to script a new chapter in their history by moving out of the heritage stadium.
The new Everton Stadium will have a capacity of over 50,000, making it among the biggest stadiums in the country. It will have state-of-the-art facilities and demo images have shown it to have some amazing technologies to bring more attention to the club’s home games.
With the stadium due to start hosting Everton’s home games from next year onwards, the construction is in full swing and it appears that the stands have also been created already.
While the general viewing looks to be really nice, one major obstruction has made the Toffees the butt of many jokes.
Why one seat at the new Everton stadium has gone viral
As the construction process continues on the stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock, some Twitter users seem to have unearthed a picture that takes obstructed viewing to a whole new level.
In the picture, a builder is shown sitting in one of the seats – but there is a huge gray wall just in front of him. It’s clear that anybody who sits in that seat will have little to no way of following the games in action because of the wall obstructing their entire view.
For a new state-of-the-art stadium, this is shocking and seems similar to the away stadiums in La Liga stadiums. For those unknown, Barcelona have an awful away seating section for the traveling fans, often situating them in the top-most stands and covering glass to make their viewing even more difficult.
But it appears that this new picture of the seat with a horrible obstruction in viewing from Everton’s stadium is not really accurate. In fact, fans have been quick to point out the actual origin of the picture.
Fact-checking the viral photo maligning the new Everton stadium
Everton fans reacted quickly to dispel the fake news regarding their new stadium and used real evidence to prove why that seat is totally fake. Newly released images of the progression of the Bramley-Moore stadium show that there are no real seats that have been attached to the stands yet.
In fact, there are no blue-colored seats at all – nor have any railing or anything else been added in yet either.
Moreover, a stadium progression video released by Everton a few weeks ago shows that only the roofs are being worked on to be completed now and the stands aren’t painted yet – nor do they have fully attached seats.
The viral image that is doing the rounds is reportedly an unknown ground in Poland and not one in England or Liverpool. That image is being used to mock Everton’s new stadium by Liverpool fans, but is not real at all.
The Toffees might have exciting things coming up in the future with this beautiful stadium, but they’ll hope to ensure that they’re still at least playing Premier League football when the new Everton Stadium opens in the 2024/25 season.
